The pattern behind every deal
The industries change, the pattern does not. A business has a problem or an opportunity with a date on it. The money that will eventually fix it is real, but it is weeks or months away: a job that will be paid on completion, an insurance claim that is taking forever, a sale and leaseback that needs the equipment first, a property sale that has not settled. A bank or equipment financier either cannot move in time or will not fit the deal into its policy.
That gap is where Equity Tap works. We lend our own money, from $50k to $5m, for one to twelve months, secured by a first mortgage, second mortgage or caveat over residential or commercial property. There is no valuation, no credit committee and no stack of financials, and the person who answers the phone is often the person who makes the decision. When the expected money arrives, it repays the Equity Tap loan.

What these deals have in common
| Deal | Why the money was needed now | How the loan was repaid |
|---|---|---|
| Brisbane builder | Materials for an extra job he had just won | Payment from another completed job, about four months later |
| Queensland organic grower | Crops had to go in the ground while a storm insurance claim dragged on | The insurance payout |
| Melbourne food manufacturer | An auction of a failed competitor's specialised equipment, funds needed within 48 hours | A planned exit agreed at the start |
| Mining industry supplier | Equipment had to be bought up front for a new contract at a Port Hedland mine | A sale and leaseback about two months later |
| Commercial property and development sellers | Money needed before settlement | The sale proceeds at settlement |
Insurance gaps come up again and again
One of the most common calls we get is from a business waiting on an insurance company. Equipment has been damaged, premises need repairs or stock has been lost, the claim is accepted in principle, and the payout is still weeks away. The business cannot sit still while the assessor finishes. A short-term loan covers the gap and the insurance money repays it. See funding while you wait on an insurance payout.
Who looks after these deals
