What independent means at Equity Tap
Equity Tap is not a bank, not a broker and not a marketplace passing your details to a panel. It is a private lender that has lent its own money since 2022. Nobody above us has to sign off on a scenario, and we are not working to a bank's scorecard. That is what independent means in practice: the same small team that hears your story is the team that decides whether to lend.
No credit committee
Larger lenders usually send a business loan up a chain: a call centre or assessor, then a credit analyst, then a credit committee that meets on a schedule. Each handover adds days, and the people deciding often never speak to the borrower. At Equity Tap there is no credit committee to wait for. You describe the property, the business purpose and how the loan will be repaid, and the person you are speaking to is frequently the one who makes the call.
Why that matters when time is short
- Faster answers. A decision made in the conversation does not wait for a committee date.
- Fewer surprises. You explain the situation directly instead of relying on someone else to summarise it on a form.
- Sensible structures. When a scenario is unusual, you can discuss options with someone who has the authority to change the structure on the spot.
- Plain answers. If a deal does not fit, you hear that quickly and can move on to another option.
What we lend on
Equity Tap provides business loans from $50k to $5m for one to twelve months, secured by acceptable residential or commercial property in Australia as a first or second mortgage. We do not need a valuation before approval, and for property-secured loans we do not ask for tax returns, BAS or bank statements. Eligible, straightforward loans can be funded in as little as 24 hours once approved. Loans are for business purposes only.
Who uses an independent private lender
- Business owners whose bank is taking too long or has said no.
- Owners who want to keep an existing first mortgage and borrow behind it with a second mortgage.
- Brokers who need a direct lender with a decision-maker available to talk through a scenario.
- Owners declined or delayed by a cash flow lender who want a loan based on property equity.
